Dr. Smith has an M.Ed. in biology education and a Ph.D. in biomedical science. In addition to post doctorial studies in respiratory neurobiology he has completed several NIH workshops in genomic techniques. He has more than thirty years of experience in higher education and industry and is the author of several peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. Dr. Smith has several certifications in remote (synchronous) and on-line (asynchronous) teaching and tutoring platforms. He has mentored students at all levels, from elementary school to postgraduate. These experiences have taught him that the love and mastery of science and math should begin early in a childs development.
